I might have some understanding for your position were it not for the fact that a Trump second term is so dangerous and likely to cause irreversible damage that no president coming after him — progressive or otherwise — will be able to fix. The examples are numerous, but let’s just mention two. First, the Supreme Court. Trump has already got two justices in (Kavanaugh and Gorsuch). RBG is likely to exit during Trump 2, which means a third Trump appointee and a majority for arch conservatives. Game over for the next 30 years. Secondly, climate change and other environmental destruction. Trump has been busy dismantling all environmental regulations, not to mention taking the US out of the Paris Agreement. Just think of the damage to the global climate, biodiversity and America’s remaining wilderness another four years will do. And then there’s the entire dismantling of government institutions (just this week Trump fired the State Department independent watchdog). This article is pretty graphic about it: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/04/how-to-destroy-a-government/606793/
Biden and the centrist Democrats may not be ideal, but none of this permanent damage would not take place during their watch.
